For £28 & 11 Years age this is a decent ripe Pomerol but may be too oaky for many & lacking a little complexity but that said it’s an OK drop at this price 😁 next doors cat didn’t mind though 😺

📍Vieux Maillet Pomerol 2007

🏵 87-88 Points

🍇 90% Merlot & 10% Cab Franc

🍷 Opaque ruby

👃 Char-smoked oak through dark plump plum, spiced blackcurrant, minerals & gooey mocha

👄 Med body of smooth overly fruity dark berries & plum w/ a mocha, cherry & earthy liquorice tone

🎯 Med+ chewy dark fruit & mocha earthy linger w/ dry oaky mineral tones

The color is inky purple. The nose has blueberries, blackberries with a woodsy scent. On the palate I am tasting blackberries and good dark fruit with a smokey finnish. Velvety mouth feel with silky tannins. I am very pleased with this Right Bank Bordeaux. For someone who loves the Left Bank wines this Right Bank has turned my head.

Lovely wine.. dark berries, slightly smoky oak, medium bodied.. beautiful.. want to be selfish and drink the whole bottle myself!

Very rich with dark fruit flavours. After decanting got a little over oxidized towards the end

Un peu trop terreux et capiteux, plus de puissance que de subtilité. Chf 85 • Restaurant Les 3 Suisses, Jongny.

Black tea, dark chocolate, oak, pomegranate. Big, concentrated juice with velvety tannins on the palate. A little boring and predictable at the start but shows a lot of more complexity after 1 hour of decanting. Hints of fennel and tarragon on the finish.
