Beautiful wine! At a great spot right now, loads of tertiary notes but still balancing its fruit and structure nicely. Dried black cherry, stewed black plum, fig, wilted violet, tar, cured meat/pink salt, beef blood, fur, sous bois, bay leaf, pipe tobacco, hoisin, bitter cocoa. There’s that distinctive sharp mineral note, call it limestone. A clean and more concise example of the appellation.

2016 vintage. A brooding hulk of a wine currently. Nose chock full of baking choc(k)olate, rose petals and earth. Big, tannic front door. Smooth (but dry) and lengthy back door. Medium/medium-full bodied. Will pick up a few more and cellar one or two. Monolithically delicious.

Classic Mourvedre, it's as if the vines slurped the terroir right from the soils. Iron, savory roast wild game, violets, camphor and hot stones meld together into vinous pleasure. A heady nose with a full presence, the palate is perfectly balanced with fruit, minerality, acid and tannin. #bandol #mourvedre

Lots of rustic character. I like some tannin in my Bandol, and this has plenty. You could cellar this further, but the tannins are likely to outlast the fruit.

Big blueberries, olallieberries, black plum, baked blackberries, sweet spice, baking spices, gritty dark minerals, herbs, dry brown earth, leather, violets and a long, elegant dry fruit finish. 98 is such a very good vintage in Provence!

Impressive. This could stand up to any vintage of Tempier.
