Domaine de Mondot belonged to Father de Seze, who had the present-day chateau built in 1745. Very much taken by the estate, Raymond Troplong purchased it in 1850 and constituted the vineyard as we know it today. Tasted ‘14 & ‘15. Dark Ruby with black fruit aromas and exotic spice. On the palate cherry and blackberry with oak, coffee and pepper spice. Tannins still big, needs time, ending with flinty mineral ending. Tasting Sample.

Apr 7th, 2016Drinking the 2015 in 2025. Thick long lasting legs. Nose has black pepper, tobacco and light earth notes. Dark ripe fruit with a light sweet hint. Very smooth with a little acidity on the finish. Balanced flavor profile with a long lasting flavorful finish.

Full bodied. Dark fruits, espresso, rooibos, blood orange, cherry liqueur. Round and silky. Powerful. Balanced. I am a fan of Troplong Mondot I must say. Great signature style that feels recognisable.

Palate: Dry. Medium Acidity. Medium Tannin. Full Body. Pronounced Flavour Intensity Ripe Dark Fruit, Liquorice and Truffle. Long Finish of Fruit and Smoke.
