Château Tour St. Bonnet
Médoc Red Bordeaux Blend
Médoc, Bordeaux, France

Solid producer whose wines drink quite well young, but I’m afraid this is a bad bottle. Distracting VA on first pour, but this initial glass had decent red fruit intensity and energy. A few hours in it devolved into a caramel nuttiness. Bad cork?

Jan 22nd, 2019Smell of cedar, plum, tobacco and red fruit, dark ruby/purple in color, decanted 1/2 bottle the first day for about one hour, a little too much heat with not much fragrance, after three days, it really opened up and the heat is gone. Smooth tannin with medium to long finish. Bang for the buck from the excellent 2005 vintage.

A little flat at first but opened up with some time. Nice dark color with a decent nose of plum and ash. A tad spicy / pepper. A gift from my wife for my bday back in the beginning of the year.... so I love it! :)

Deep, spicy. Great with pizza; not quite the right fit for anything delicate.

Generous crushed black fruit, cedar, charcoal, good energy, fine tannins. Never bracing nor plummy. Fermented in cement tanks, aged 18 months in foudres.

2016 Left Bank kicks ass at all price points. This is a bargain bottle that I feel deserves more love than the 8.5 average rating on this app. I give it an unapologetic 9. I popped and poured a glass (saving the rest for some mostaccioli later tonight), and it is behaving like a high-quality Medoc. A little tight but juicy, with pleasant fruit, slate, apple skins, and vibrant acidity. Appropriately tannic and a lovely finish. At $16, I would easily recommend this to a newbie or a seasoned veteran. It can handle 5 more years.
Listening to Patsy Cline.
