Haven't had a Bordeaux for a while after a flush of Cali cabs. This reminds me of the more herbal and less acid Bordeaux I use to reach for in NYC. Peppery and notes of green plums with only the slightest vanilla at the end. High tannin. Woody note. Brownish red as a medoc should be

Wedding wine 2015

Oak, black currant, a milky note and a tad of cedar and tar. The nose leaves little room for mistake... The palate is surprisingly thin with a strong acid backbone and little matter, there is a bit of width but the mouthfeel is marked by oak. Tannins come in next. They are pointy a lively and with that persistent oak note that make up for a very dry and somehow rough layer. The tongue of a cat. The finish shows little fruit and goes on with that tannins layer for a while. It needs either more time, or more air or less new barrel exposure 😀. I recommend serving it along a flavourful beef stew.

I can only repeat after winemaker “elegant wine with delightful finish”...in my view the best Medoc I’ve had in a very long time.

Taut structure, coffee bean, saddle, forest berries, dense, flavors are well mingled, masculine

Sweet nose notes of blackberry and vanilla. And the palate is rough: a tobacco (also nose) and a bitter chocolate (finish). Smooth and elegant. Needs a decantation.
