Chateau St. Jean
Cinq Cépages Sonoma County Red Blend

From a 5 Bordeaux grape blend: 84% Cab Sauv, 6% Merlot, 6% Cab Franc, 2% Malbec & 2% Petit Verdot, aged 20 months French oak. Deep Ruby with aromas of ripe dark fruits, cedar and cigar box spice. On the palate flavors of blackberry and currants with notes of stewed prunes, mushroom, pepper, herbs and earthy notes. Fine sweet tannins, long finish ending with cacao, smoky oak, fruit and mineral tang. Very nice, aging well.

Powerful blend. Deliciously balanced and layers of complex fruit tones. Nicely integrated at eight years of age.

Nov 4th, 2018Plum, mushrooms, and rose hips, head up a nice flavor profile for a regularly underrated wine. Almost a milk chocolate lactic mouthfeel with Tannins made of silk and the sweetest kiss of acid. Drinking solo but a beautiful food wine. Better than other wines of its ilk at half the price.

Monday night celebration wine. Rich chocolate covered cherries stored in a cedar cigar box. Wish I had a cigar to go with!
