2015 vintage. Beautiful nose, truffle galore. A delicious Pomerol, ready to drink. It would have been nice to taste the grand vin next to it, because sometimes you wonder if the second wine turns out to outperform the grand vin.

I’m a sucker for Pomerol. Dark red, opaque, pencil shavings, red fruit. Love it!

Enjoyed this much more this time. And didn’t leave it much time to open here either. Beautiful nose and bright fruit. Have one more btl -guess that will be the tiebreaker

Don’t drink a lot of Bord and not sure how to class this one...fragrant nose and appropriately austere but ultimately seemed stilted, wooden. Need to try again maybe after some air (or age)

Not much fruit on the start bold middle and a semi tanic end, my bottle was 6 years old and decanted. Not the best and far from the worst from this region.

🏅 Rating: 88+/100 (3,85🌟)

Distinctive style of Bordeaux. Merlot dominant. Fragrant perfumed ripe fruits: plum, black cherry. Pencil shavings, meaty, pepper, dried flowers. Tannins are getting ripe, but still chewy. Wine reached its peak. Good concentration of flavours. Very good level of 2nd wine of Château Rouget 17 ha estate of gently sloping hillside planted to 85% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc.

The grapes are sourced from younger 20 yo vines, vinified in steel tanks, aged 18mo in 2nd fill oak barrels.

Classic Bordeaux nose. Oak and tart fruit with mineral undertones. Well balanced tannins and acid in a dry finish.
