The last bottle from the superb list at Manresa. I can’t believe it’s 03. There’s absolutely zero heat and its elegance is just off the charts. After 2 hours in the decanter is when it morphs into a magical zone with dazzling complexity and stunning aromatics of sweet raspberry jam, red flowers, garrigue, incense and minerals that come at you in waves and leap from the glass. The palate is full of layers with a liquid cashmere texture that just floats on the palate with weightless intensity and a finish for dayzzz. One of the great wines of the world.

Bday wines. Fun night. 1995 Rayas right in prime drinking window. Roulot was WOTN for some. My fave was the 2015 Masseto. No apologies for drinking this so young as it’s incredible. Have a few laid down to see how it evolves.

There are times in a wine lovers trajectory when certain bottles become ethereal. Yes, they are perfect without a doubt. However, they also posses the power to make you recall specific memories through smell and taste. And, as a wine lover, when you find those wines, reliving that memory becomes reality.
