2019 vintage. From 30 hectares in Haut-Medoc, owned by the Quié family ( also Rauzan-Gassies and Croizet-Bages). A fine effort, showing that the Quié family is finally serious about quality, after decades of mediocrity. Much more evolved in colour compared to the 2019 Moulin de La Lagune tasted alongside. Ripe, slightly jammy fruit. Serve slightly cold to keep the high alcohol ( 15% abv.) in check.

Amazing under $30 - drinks way above its price point.

Nice and “bright” for a big Bordeaux - easy, smooth entry with that signature Bordeaux aroma on the nose, and a full red fruit/tobacco finish - but restrained. Very nice for a slow Sunday evening.

Spicy berry aromatics. Crisp red fruit flavors. Fairly straightforward and good

An excellent value. For $31.50 a solid, brooding Merlot blend with deep black fruit flavors and tar. Is this an excellent Bordeaux? No. But it delivers true Bordeaux flavor appropriate for an everyday meal like a hamburger 🍔 or cheese. Worth buying for under $35.

Often credited as being the Second Label of Ch. Rauzan Gassies—it most definitely is not—this Haut-Médoc is just OK. For me, Ch. Cantemerle is the flag ship of Haut-Médoc. If you accept this premise the L’Orme has a lot of catching up to do. Does an $18 price point deserve a try? Spend another $20 and purchase a ‘15 Cantemerle. The $ sting is well worth it.

Dreadful. Thin, food coloring in water with a dash of rubbing alcohol.
