I needed warmth, something a bit familiar, nothing too challenging, most of all enjoyable. I didn’t want to ponder. Tag, this it. 55/45/5- cab sauv/merlot/petit Verdot

A very solid bordeaux that is just entering prime. A blend of Merlot, Cab, and Petit Verdot with a really interesting nose. Chocolate, tobacco, raspberry, and black pepper notes give way to medium plus acidity and finishes with some tannin still present. Drinks well now with a quick decant and should go strong for the next 5 years.

Hitting a sweet spot now. Winner of the Croix du Cru Bourgeois, this is better than last November's tasting. Nice structure with a backbone of grippy tannins and dark cherry fruit. The medium finish shows this had a bit of weight to it. The oak is so subtle that I barely notice any hints of it.

This was the year to get this Cru. The chateau won a Croix du Cru Bourgeois. More Merlot that CS and tasty. Enjoyable now. I don't think this has more than two to three years left.

3.1. Margaux blend, heavy on the tannins without that bright cheery fruit we were expecting. On sale for 13.99, regularly $19.98.
