Vintage 2006 | Tasted blind, pop and pour, every taster thought it to be a wine from the Jura, because of clear oxidative characteristics. Some tasters dislike this: acquired taste. After 24 hours aeration I drank the leftover from the bottle with a risotto with zuchini, sweet paprika and calamari. The wine showed an awesome balance and refinement. The oxidative thing became a very light impression.

Aug 27th, 2021The 2010 Chaterau Musar ‘Gaston Hochar’ White Wine is an intruding blend of indigenous varietals, 75% Obaideh and 25% Merwah, that are sourced from vines that range from 60-90 years of age. Needing a one hour decant to be fully expressive, the ‘Gaston Hochar’ slowly unveils star jasmine, lemon curd, with suggestions of wet stone and honeydew melon that all meld together in the glass. The palate shows a silky texture and beautiful mouthfeel, unveiling ripe melon, citrus zest and shades of nutmeg infused Challah bread that come together. The sense of place and texture to the wine is really good, as is the mouth-watering acidity. Fantastic in its youth, this beautiful wine will cellar well for at least another fifteen years. Drink 2020-2033- 92

May 5th, 2019First of a small tranche of six bottles supplied directly from the importer and my first experience with Musar’s Blanc. Opened an hour before serving...should have been much longer. Light golden color...striking to behold. Wild aromas of marmalade, stone fruits, orange blossom. On the palate it’s much the same with lovely acidity and minerality. This bottle came across remarkably young. The late Serge Hochar once said that his white wines seemed to become more fresh with age. That statement, at the time, seemed absurd to me but what the hell do I know. This bottle seems to prove he was right and that he had and incredible understanding of his wines. I’m in no particular rush to drink my five remaining bottles but one thing is for certain, I will likely decant my next bottle for an extended period, similar to the way I treat their Rouge. World class.

Jan 25th, 2019Deep amber in colour which could be deterring but make no mistake this 1991 was stellar. Nose palate and finish. Obv oxidative but the minerality and saline with good acidity make it just a pleasure.
