Cooked fruits of blackberries, dark cherries, plum, black raspberries, cherries, strawberries, rhubarb, green pepper, vegetal mix, core of anise, rich semi-sweet black earth, stones, dry floral bouquets and a long elegant burnt caramel fruit finish with amazing acidity. After this vintage, this property was renamed d'Armailhac. Out of magnum.

Vintage 1988, my last bottle,an old lady with distinction, leather, tobacco, pencil shaving, autumn leaves, roundness and a velvety structure. I combined it with risotto fungi and Chaams hoen, a special slow food chicken from Brabant.

What a treat! While the cork disintegrated upon contact, we were able to save the rest and were rewarded with a full-bodied, aromatic wine with strong tannins and a smoky aftertaste.

What if I told you that I tasted a 29 year old 2nd label #Bordeaux that I purchased for $15? Creepy right? Not at all! Pencil box and dusty dark fruit on the nose, mouth watering but muted fruit on the palate. Wonderful. A classic label to boot!
