Château Montus
Pacherenc du Vic-Bilh Sec Blanc White Blend
Madiran, Southwest France, France
The Blanc. My first time with this wine, a little fatty in '09 and a lot with the oak, but the grapes acids keep it together. Tropical, similar to BDX Blanc, with less green. Generally for it, but need to try some more vintages.

This is very similar to Les Jardins Philosophiques from the sister property Bouscasse, with a bit more nutty lightly oxidative notes that almost points you to Jura Blanc. Textured body contrasts the crisp acidity nicely.
Usually a blend of Petit Courbu and Petit Manseng, but the back label shows 100% Petit Courbu for 2015. This will cruise for another 5-8 years.

Drinking superbly with a few years ahead still.

My bottle was quite old and had caramelized, turning orange, but it still had some nice notes of honey and pear. Likely a good wine, but I wish I could have tasted the intended flavors.
