Chateau Montelena
Napa Valley Petite Sirah

Rich in color, A lot of sediment & still tannic. Cherry tootsie pop smell. Rough finish without food.

Paired with lamb sausages and lamb loin chop with grilled peppers and eggplant. Developed nicely with a touch of dark fruit and hinta of leather, possibly tobacco that works very well with meat.

Needed a good hour plus decant. Big oaky flavor with a bit of vanilla on the finish.
Happy NYE!

Dryer with tart cherry and maybe even a hint of cranberry than I expected from a Petite Syrah, but delightfully complex with a longer musty finish.
Gift from my spouse from San Francisco trip. Delightful! Loved it, though a bit atypical for petite Syrah and not my preferred dark fruit and vanilla, which says a lot!

Dark and beautiful. Nose of blueberries and licorice. Nice finish that lasts longer than I expected. Could be due to the almost petrol like texture

An amazing wine again, my favorite varietal as well, so absolutely enjoyed the balanced and delicious flavor.

May 4th, 2015Enjoyed the novelty of drinking such a famous wine a tad more than the wine itself. Was probably a little past its prime, but the company, meal, and spirit with which it was given to me make it memorable indeed. Thanks, Cheryl and Elijah!
