Deep and dark fruit -blackberries, plums, figs. Touch of chocolate in a splash of acidic tannins in the finish.

Very light on the nose and not much fragrance...drinks smoothly with flavors of earthiness, stone fruit, spice and a little pepper. Lingers on the tongue and doesn’t finish as smoothly as I would like...

So this ChMont doesn't hold the line with the prior cab. It's solid, as always, but lacks complexity, depth, and frankly even body. This is medium. A nice smoked wood note makes its somewhat different. But otherwise, it feels underripe, and thin. It's worth laying down for a while (ask @Shay A how long) to look for you improvement. I really wanted to press to 9.2 here but couldn't.

Elegant deep garnet color. Mild bouquet. Medium light body and acidity. Pleasant tannins, silk start to a semi dry finish.

Surprised it has 14.2% alcohol, it feels surprisingly light and easy to drink considering the legs on it. Doesn't have the oak oomph that a lot of other California cabs have, so it's a pleasant bottle to have for something different.
