Perfume comes through with air, as she opens up during hour 2. Muddled red fruit, overripe cantaloupe, Christmas spices, sweet chestnut. Sweetness on the attack. Balance of acid, fruity sweetness and still gritty tannins round out the wine. Medium finish but the alcohol heat remains. I think this wine must be higher than the 13.5 advertised. Good juice 20 years on.

Had this 1998 vintage on May 2, 2005. I added the picture of another bottle I have from the same case to this app in 2015 when I joined, so it says that is when I drank it, so Iwanted to correct that. The rating is from the bottle I had in 2005.

This 1992 has stood the test of time. Great flavor and an aged wine finish that you only get by waiting it out. I expect nothing less from Montelena. A gift from an old friend and mentor. Thanks, Rick.
