Moulis en Médoc Red Bordeaux Blend

Vintage 2019 | Incredible good classic from Moulis. Red fruit integrates with sigar box cedar, eucalyptus and spices. Beautiful balance, vibrant wine. | paired with cheeses

QPR stunner at €13. Juicy, vivid, and brisk. Wild berry, cassis, cherry notes crash the palate using acidity as the delivery vehicle. Tasting great now, I’d say pop and pour over the next 5-10. Kind of exotic and wild, really cool stuff

2016 vintage. This historical Moulis estate was bought in 2011 by the Barton Sartorius family (owners of Saint-Julien Crus Classés Leoville-Barton and Langoa-Barton). Merlot is the dominant grape variety here, and even more so in the 2016 blend as Cabernet Sauvignon suffered from frost. 47% Merlot, 28% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Cabernet Franc and 7% Petit Verdot. Red fruits (strawberry, raspberry) and a hint of flowers. Medium-bodied and fresh.

Middle of the road old school Bordeaux. Weedy, dry leafy nose overshadows a bit of cassis fruit. Dry, brambly flavors predominate. A bit of nice berry fruit tries to peak through. Quite a bit of puckery tannin. Not bad, but not a repurchase.

3.5. Lovely Bordeaux blend with nice mix of fruits and spices and lovely smooth aftertaste. This was our house wine last year. On sale for $21.99, regularly $26.99.

Dark fruit, graphite and cedar.

Deep ruby color.
Aromas of cassis, tomato leaf, clove.
Dry. Flavors of cassis, black pepper, vegetal, clove. Rich, firm tannins.

Compared the 2012 to 2018. 2012 was ready to drink and well balanced. 2018 was young but drinkable.

Palate: Dry. Medium Acidity. Low Tannin. Light Body. Medium Intensity of Strawberries, Black Cherries, hints of Baking Spices. Medium Finish
