Deep garnet red. Lovely and elegant nose with notes of purple flowers, earthiness, leather and dried red fruits. Medium tannins (6.5/10) and medium to medium plus bodied. Very dry with forest floor, truffles, cherries and spices. Medium plus finish. Drink now.

No decant, open for about an hour. Big nose. Very dark. Initially, strong cedar and forest floor flavors. Some fruit there, cherry or plum . No bricking. Long finish. Still plenty of time to drink.

Classic '00 vintage, showing development, but with still ripe fruit intensity.

Pavillon Rouge is the second label of Château Margaux, and the 2000 is a perfumed, silken blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 33% Merlot, and 7% Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Freshly tilled, loamy soil, leather, forest floor, seedy berries, and black currents evokes the memory of some distant springtime, under cloudy skies. I’m especially struck by the distribution of tannins, which are fine and lovely. There is a lightness to this wine, and a certain elegance that rolls out gently, without bravado.

Still a bit firm on the palate. Darker plum and cherry, a bit of espresso. Would like to revisit in a few years or with a couple hour decant.

This is the second win and 2005 is a bit muted on the nose the 2000 vintage is a milestone and they make an even tighter selection with this wine they have a construction project going on and they are always improving things they now have sensors to see just ow the temperate use changes win eshipment nice evolution on the nose with
