Drank 1/18/19 at the Union des Grands Crus de Bordeaux event in Miami. All wines from the 2016 Vintage.
Tasting pour, no formal notes taken. Most of these wines are very tight, and will require 5-15 years to really come together. Many will likely improve a few points with time.
My runner up for left bank WOTN. All of the Pauillac wines tasted were fantastic, but this was a bit above most. Waves of dark fruit, lots of complexity, and fantastic length. Firm structure, but still beautiful at this stage.

Simply one of the top three young vintages of Lynch Bages I’ve had. Gorgeous med to dark red fruit, violets, beautiful soft earth, excellent acidy and stunning finish. Must buy and buy a lot.

This wine is such a classic Bordeaux for me. Gorgeous garnet color with a cherry red rim. Crazy good aromatics and juicy, silky on the palate. This wine reminds me of why I started down this enjoyable wine drinking journey in the first place. A bit like coming home.

Okay. Again the same dilemma. If a wine does not meet expectation is it basically bad (for me)? 🤔 because in life everything is relative, right? Any thoughts on puzzling matter??The wine was well balanced, dark red fruit flavors, polished, smooth tannins, good intensity and concentration, but limited length and lacking any meaningful complexity… Eight year old left bank Bordeaux. A fourth or fifth growth winery, maybe not, can’t remember for sure. Do remember what I paid though, $120. Definitely too much for what we experienced this evening…. as to our expectations.
