Château Le Puy
Marie-Cécile Sémillon

Cool to try a semillon from Le Puy. More natural than expected. Raw honey and nectarine.

Pears and apples leap from the glass. Great acidity which carries a kaleidoscope of flavors like a raft on a river.
Delicious.

A lot of ripe apples and pears. Awesome!

Cloudy, golden yellow color with pale yellow edges and a medium body. Legs are loooong and slow, and the nose is all naturále. Slightly funky but big on the citrus, especially the lemon, with a big nose of ripe rind, and hints of salt and tart yellow fruits (star fruit and maybe Budda’s hand?). It didn’t start out that way, it was all natural wine funk at the beginning, but after an hour it opened up a lot and rested into its own. Palate has some sharp acidity, ripe lemon and almost cooked citrus fruits, kinda creamy and caramelized, with notes of brandy, apple cider like hints, vegetal notes (like celery?), creamy cinnamon sugar (like a coffee cake) even a little forest floor! The flavor and acid lingers long after your sip, and leaves a slight zingy flavor on the palate. Whew!

Bruised apple, pear, honeyed, orange. Nice depth, fabulous with Vermont cloth bound cheddar as the starter.

Also showed well with food. Honeyed ox notes, bitter citrus pith, intense, palate-coating.

My first White Bordeaux. 100% Sémillon from a winery that's been making it this way for 600 years. Apples & pears, but more savory than sweet. Very interesting & unusual.
