Château Latour
Grand Vin Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend
Pauillac, Médoc, Bordeaux, France

What a gorgeous nose. Dark plum and roses with some iron and spices. Dried barns. Very resolved and pure. Coherent and delicious and plush. One of the best bottles of this I’ve had. Great

HBTM! 🥳 🎉🎂 🎈
A Christmas present from Sofia.
This is still somewhat taut and dry, meaty tannins. The first time you should open this Grand Vin. Decanted four and a half hours. It has another 20 years of good drinking ahead.
Bramble, dry blackberries, black plum, black raspberries, dry, dark cherries. Dry twig, dry crushed rocks, lead pencil for days, sandstone/limestone, dark, rich, earth with dry leaves, cigar box, ash, leathery, dark spice, clove, nutmeg, cinnamon sticks and vanillin, slightly, moist, volcanic clay, dry & withering flowers that are dark, red and violets framed in lavender, perfect round acidity, structured, well tensioned, overly balanced to earth and smartly polished finish that lands on earth & spice.
The 02 should be opened in another 8-10 years and will still drink well in another 20 years properly stored.
Paired with AB Brothers Ribcap, crispy baked potato & cooked carrots.
Photos of, their late summer, early fall vineyards and their iconic storage building/vineyard & stainless tanks.
The 07 Turnbull Napa almost seemed grape juice like after the 82 Les Forts & 02 Latour.

Very pure. Cherry and plum. Confit-like. Roses and dried flowers. Haunting. Memorable.

Perhaps it is a mark of my age when I find myself plotting on how to liquidate my ‘cellar’, or rather with whom I can share some unique wines. So I was lucky enough to share this bottle- which was originally gifted to me- with one of my best buds’ father- all of 91yrs-& his wife, both of whom I’ve known for at least 30+ years. A good time was had by all. Paired with simple roast chicken & small potatoes, & a green salad. Oh, and the wine: still going very, very strong, fruit forward even, with elegant tannic structure & acidity keeping that lovely fruit so fresh. Amazing how sweet & pure the fruit is. A Chidaine Chenin Blanc played the opening act, & would have received an encore if we we had another bottle.

A wonderful nose of dark brooding fruit, Iodene, cedar, iron. On the palate lush, intense and mineral. A touch tight and tannic still, but it’s opening up well from decanter. A splendid wine- this one is still quite young and tight!

Medium deep ruby , with quite narrow garnet rim . Really youthful colour . Quite deep and noble , with grafite , spicy blackberry , cassis , cigar box , cedar, touch of sous bois and oyster shell . On the palate this is serious and detailed , quite big and dense , tannic , but also perfectly balanced with fresh acidity . Compared to the Lafite served before , this is bigger boned , more imposing and denser on the palate. Grafite , cigar box , cassis and dusty sous bois . Mineral and detailed on the long finish with more grafite and cigar box. This is imposing and stately , though it’s never tiring and never looses its focus . Still pretty young , but with time in decanter shows pretty well , but surely it’s best days are still ahead . Better in 5 to 10 years and will last well a further 10-15 , probably longer .

No fruit almost port like in its bouquet , even after standing it up for 3 days sediment has not settled so needs more time
