Leather, tobacco, oak, blackberry, prunes on the nose, spicy finish. A complex wine vintage whose time has come!

Nariz: arándano, mora, cassis, ciruela, regaliz

Boca: en boca se percibe algo de madera. Acidez M/M+, Taninos M+ pero sedosos. Alcohol M+. Largo en boca. Vino concentrado y buena complejidad. Se beneficiaria de mas tiempo en botella. Buen valor.

2009, opened Jan 2017. Bouquet of leather and smoke. Some raisins and cassis on the front palate. Soft tannins on the roof of the mouth. Not much happening on the back palate. In fact it's downright watery on the back palate. Not a great Bordeaux. I'd expect more from a 2009 Haut-Brion. I don't expect it will improve much with age. Yawn.

2009 vintage, opened 2016. Strange -- someone else mentioned the scent of horse dung in the 2000 vintage. upon uncorking the bottle,I picked up that scent in the 2009 vintage, too, but give it an hour to breathe, and this wine opens up into a deliciously satiny wine, with blackberry, currant, and a slightly tart rhubarb finish against some bitter earthy undertones (the type that I get from wines grown in limestone soils). A lovely wine.
Ready for drinking now. It might be kind of tepid in five or ten more years, though.. Drink it now!

Lovely in it's youth, but a few more years would tamper down the oak and make it really incredible. Big juicy black currents.
