Tonight we had good life long friends over and we opened a wonderful this St. Julien Bordeaux. 72% Cabernet Sauvignon, 26% Merlot, 2% Petit Verdot. Just like how I like my Bordeaux, well balanced, good fruit and a sense of place. On the nose I can pick up notes of plum, black raspberry, black currant and a nice licorice. On the palate the is good dark fruit, black cherry, black raspberry, black currant, cassis, tobacco, and smoky campfire. I love the chewy tannins and a medium + acidity with a good long finish. Everything I look for in a quality Bordeaux.

2008 vintage out of magnum. Feminine and pretty, not showing lots of complexity now.

Not a lot going on. Seemed to be closed and tight without much love to give.

@Peter Greenberg thought I was opening the one you put on detectable the other day but realized it was not. This one is really good also. A Cabernet from Saint Julien

2008 vintage, has 72% Cabernet Sauvignon, more than normal for other vintages. Vegetal and perfumey notes show!

Aromas of black fruit, pleasing earthy tone. Long taste in the mouth. The prestige comes however at a certain price!

2008 vintage. High tannins, mouthwatering, persistence of red berry. Chalky minerality and grippy mouthfeel. Aromas matched flavours of typical left bank Bourdeau characteristics. Well balanced fruit, acidity and tannic structure.
