Opened about an hour before service. No formal notes. The 1996 Château La Rame “Réserve du Château” pours a deep burnished copper/gold color with medium+ viscosity. Layers of delicious dried apricots, candied lemon, honeysuckle, nuts, with perfectly balanced acid. This is a rich and decadent dessert wine that reminds me of Sauternes (as it should considering it's 100% old-vine Sémillion affected by botrytis) and and a lovely pairing with what was an artistic, deconstructed take on a lemon meringue pie. Will probably live forever.
