Château d'Yquem
Sauternes Sémillon-Sauvignon Blanc Blend

dark. The color of sherry. Nutty oxidized notes and a spectacular sweet depth. Caramel and figs. Really lovely.

Sweet with white flowers, rich honey. Rounded and deep. Caramel but with a minty lift in the finish. Great stuff.

Time for dessert!!!
The nose shows; white peach, apricots, dry pineapple, Bosc pear, dry tropical melons, marmalade, honey, orange citrus and blossoms, nuts, toffee, banana peel, burnt caramel, brown raw sugar, baguette crust, soft limestone minerals and floral spring flowers.
The body is thick, gluey and rich and has lots of residual sugar. White peach, apricots, dry pineapple, Bosc pear, dry tropical melons, marmalade, honey, orange citrus and blossoms, nuts, toffee, banana peel, burnt caramel, brown raw sugar, baguette crust, soft limestone minerals and spring flowers. The acidity is beautiful, thick and round. The finish is well balanced and elegant with polish on the finish for days.
Photos of; Chateau d’ Yquem, their tasting room, 1917 bottle of d’ Yquem and botrytis grapes and their barrel room.

Well if this isn’t a way to finish off lunch, I don’t know what is!!! Stewed blend of peaches and apricots on the nose. Who the pallet is a long finish of rolling summer stone fruit. Perfect balance! Utopia again!

The world’s best finish to a meal (or at anytime) and one of my all time favorite wines, luscious and rich with apricot marmalade, candied pineapple, acacia honey and a long, opulent and lingering creamy finish.

An absolutely stunning lunch from @joe leatherwood today. 1 sparkler, 2 whites, 5 reds and 1 dessert wine. All served blind.
Young, but a real joy to see how impressive this is currently and to imagine how much of a monster it will be in 20yrs. Intoxicating nose that oozes of honey roasted cashews, orange marmalade, and honey coated mango. Very dense and rich in the middle right now, but it has the classic minute long finish already. I waffled between this being either ‘01 Rieussec or mid-‘00s D’yquem.
