Château des Jacques
Morgon Gamay
Good deeply woodsy/hedgey black fruit. Tannins are firm and dense. This seems to pack both the fruit density and structure to prove that Cru Beaujolais competes with Bourgogne rouge and village wines.

Sep 28th, 2018Everything I dislike about the 2015 Beaujolais vintage dialled up to 11. No acid. Baked, raisin-y fruit. Flabby. 14.5% alcohol. I mean, thankfully no new oak - otherwise you'd think this was an anonymous Paso red blend. It's not a terrible wine. It's just not Beaujolais at all.

May 5th, 2018Big and jammy. Not subtle. Acid saves the day. Like a dessert gamay, if that's possible.
