Morgon Gamay

Good deeply woodsy/hedgey black fruit. Tannins are firm and dense. This seems to pack both the fruit density and structure to prove that Cru Beaujolais competes with Bourgogne rouge and village wines.

Pruney, no acidity, ok wine but was expecting more structure, freshness and lifted fruit here.

Everything I dislike about the 2015 Beaujolais vintage dialled up to 11. No acid. Baked, raisin-y fruit. Flabby. 14.5% alcohol. I mean, thankfully no new oak - otherwise you'd think this was an anonymous Paso red blend. It's not a terrible wine. It's just not Beaujolais at all.

Big and jammy. Not subtle. Acid saves the day. Like a dessert gamay, if that's possible.

Gotta say this vintage is just too ripe no finesse

Burgundian in style with structure, earth and dark red fruit. Less floral than other recent '11 Morgons. Tasty, better with a brief decant.

Stunning and superb.

Underripe blackberry, fresh dirt and herbal notes. Nice acid.

Solid, not reaching the heights of Lapierre etc
