After two hours in decanter, the '06 Le Claux is singing. The nose was dark and savory yet fresh with pepper-tinged black fruit, giving way to rosemary, violets and exotic spices. On the palate I found velvety textures with polished black fruits which seemed to envelope the senses with dry extract, as notes of olive, pepper, and saline-minerality added gravitas. Inner violet florals and black pepper lingered long of the finish, along with a tug of tannin and dry extract.

Stunning nose, evocative of violets, lavender, garrigue. Velvety mouthfeel, power, finesse. Dark fruit, tar, wood, brooding. Drink for another 5-7 years. Fabulous.
