Château de Saint-Cosme
Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhône Blend
Medium intensity plum color. Floral nose with vanilla bean, blackberry... Medium plus alcohol heats the vanilla. Full-bodied, blue fruit with vanilla and razorblade spiciness on the palate. Bitter. Medium acidity, medium plus tannins. I honestly don't know if this will round out with more time. It's good, but I've definitely had more balanced CNdP. Yes, it's young.

Meaty nose, with Provençal herbs and a fresh mushroom aroma. Lighter and brisker on the palate, and still fairly firm tannins. A leaner example of CDP but has aged nicely.

Feb 5th, 2022Delicious. Pretty garnet color; perfume of perfectly ripe dark cherries, blackberries, marzipan and creme de cassis, along with fresh rosemary and a touch of black pepper. Balanced, elegant style of CDP, intoxicating nose. Tannins have settled in. Singing right now

Jun 30th, 2020Medium ruby; medium plus intensity aromas of red/black cherry, concentrated raspberry, dried blackberry, red plum, dried herbs, potpourri, creme de cassis, sweet spices; medium finish, good structure, very good

Jan 20th, 2020Brilliant ruby-red. Smoke- and mineral-accented dark berries, licorice and garrigue on the highly perfumed nose. Sappy, expansive blackberry and bitter cherry flavors unfurl and become sweeter with air, picking up a sexy floral note on the back half. Combines power and finesse with a sure hand and finishes very long and spicy, with rounded tannins lending gentle grip. (Josh Raynolds, Vinous, December 2019)

Raisins, figs, spicy cinnamon and nutmeg. Lingering finish. Nice wine.

Jan 6th, 2019Really elegant, earthy, feminine CDP. Boysenberry jam, red plums, strong nose, brambles, herb tea. Delicate tannins, mouthwatering acidity, solid structure. Feels old school and honest. Everything in great proportion.

Jul 17th, 2018Wednesday Wine Committee “Founder’s Day”, honoring those who started this tradition back in the ‘70s. What an incredible group and tradition they started!
My guess was right bank Bordeaux. Very extracted up front. Didn’t get much peppercorn/spicy red fruit on this up front like most CdPs. Older bing cherry, herbal spice and some cedar. I enjoy their Gigondas bottle the most.

Great color, good mouthfeel. Fresh wine that shows with time opened. Ruby colors, cranberry. Smells like damp earth, red earthy fruits. Wet blacktop minerality. Some dark tea. Racy acidity. Tannin and acidity playing fast together. Opened 9/17/17
