Château de Pizay
Beaujolais Gamay
An easy drinking Beaujolais. Medium Ruby with red berry aromas, medium-bodied, palate shows fresh red berry fruit flavors, with cherry, banana and lychee on a medium finish. Tasting Sample.

1 person found it helpfulSep 6th, 2014Nice red/purple color. Black fruit, Forrest Floor and purple flowers fill the nose. Blackberry/Elderberry/Black cherry on the pallet with hints of banana, earth and mushroom on the pallet. Light body and light acidity (would have liked to see more acidity). Fresh tasting. Nice heft. Basic but quite approachable.

Aug 21st, 2022Little disappointing for a Gamay. Maybe this was too young and needed a year or two. Red Berry and hints of spice.

Oct 9th, 2021Unfair second bottle rating, following Lapierre Morgon. A little flat and watery preceding a late fruit slug. Not at all bad. Would serve especially well at cellar for a summer lunch.
Update: First bottle offers the same. Big fruit, slightly rough alcohol. Could use air. Solid bottle.
