Château de Marsannay
Gevrey-Chambertin Pinot Noir
Gevrey-Chambertin, Côte de Nuits, Burgundy, France
Brought from France. Surprisingly harsh tannins at first. After 30 minutes in decanter it calmed down and the velvety goodness revealed itself. It's still young but already has all the flavours necessary to make this bottle a highlight of the night. Although, quite honestly, I was expecting a bit more from it.

Barnyard funk upon open with tart cherry notes. Softened into scents of tobacco. Little hit of menthol followed by graphite and forest floor. Earthy, but lithe. Lighter body will be perfect with seared halibut and mushroom risotto.
