Chateau Dauzac
Aurore de Dauzac Margaux Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot

Vintage 2021 | blind tasted I thought Merlot, but that is only 1/3, 2/3 is Cabernet Sauvignon. Refinement and rondeur. Plums, cassis, hints of tobacco and chocolate.

Aurore de Dauzac 2021
Margaux AOC, Bordeaux, France 🇫🇷
Overview
The second wine of Château Dauzac, one of Margaux’s esteemed 5th Growths, this cuvée defines accessible elegance right from a storied estate.
The 2021 blend is composed of 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 37% Merlot, and 1% Petit Verdot, offering immediate charm and refined Margaux character. Margaux is renowned for its perfumed and graceful style, making this wine a beautiful ambassador for the appellation, even in its youthful form.
Aromas & Flavors
Bright ruby hue gives way to floral cherries, redcurrant, and berry compote, layered with hints of violet, graphite, and subtle oak spice. On the palate, round and supple red fruit unfolds into cranberry, plum, and fine-grained spice.
Mouthfeel
Medium-bodied, elegant, and polished. Refined tannins are framed by freshness, leading to a lingering, mineral-tinged finish that displays Margaux’s limestone terroir.
Winemaking Notes
Hand-harvested and meticulously sorted fruit from the estate’s eastern sandy gravel plots. Vinified with care and aged in a mix of French oak barrels and tanks (only 45% oak, ~20% new), maintaining freshness and suppleness.
Food Pairing
The finesse of this wine shines alongside roasted duck with herbs, mushroom risotto, seared tuna, or a simple cheese board with Gruyère or Brie.
Verdict
Aurore de Dauzac 2021 is a graceful testament to Margaux elegance—architected in a second wine that delivers early pleasure without sacrificing structure or complexity. A compelling choice within a refined Bordeaux price range. A show stopper!
