Lunch on Saturday with friends at home. No detailed notes but there was Apricot in amongst the candied fruits. Barb said it was not as sweet as she was expecting. Drinking at its peak - no further cellaring required. Went well with fresh strawberries and ice cream.

A blend of 75% Semillon, 23% Sauvignon Blanc, & 2% Muscadelle. Golden with complex aromas, somewhat Riesling like, and adding a tropical bouquet. On the palate this botrytis rich wine shows apple, pineapple and honeysuckle flavors. Lingering finish ending with smoky vanilla notes. Was lucky enough to get a taste of this beauty. Will contine to age in the bottle. Tasting Sample.

The 2015 Coutet is a little reduced on the nose and lacks the flair of some of its peers. Pinched at
the moment - maybe going through a sulky phase? The palate is well balanced and very harmonious, viscous in texture with perfectly matched acidity and fine delineation and precision toward the finish. Once the bouquet awakens this should be a seriously fine Barsac/Sauternes. Tasted blind at the Southwold 2015 Bordeaux tasting. (Neal Martin, Vinous, July 2019)

This is the second time in several years that I have enjoyed this wine. The bottle that I enjoyed at Château Coutet with their winemaker showed quite a bit better than the first bottle that I purchased at auction. The ’89 Coutet nose is quite evolved with a bit of oxidation. Honey and ripe pineapple with apricot aromas come together with nutmeg accents. The palate shows really good richness and intensity which makes it difficult to believe this wine is thirty years old, Apricot marmalade, ripe pineapple, creme brûlée and butterscotch flavors come together in the glass with wild mushroom undertones. Showing serious range and intensity, this gorgeous wine has a minute long finish that completes the package. Drink 2019-2035- 96

Surprisingly subtle and refined on the palate. Beautiful bright flavors of tangerine and kumquat are a great counterpoint to the apricot marmalade.

At the age of 23 this wine is really splendid, great balance and freshness for a mature Sauternes, the sweetness and acidity nicely complete each other. On the nose classical nots of dried apricot, honey, minerals, lime, acacia, citrus blossom and dried flowers, full body, thick delicious-smooth texture and delightful sweet lingering finish. My score 92, drink to 2026

Beautiful nose of dried apricot and honey. Really nice persistence. The acids are very low but the fruit intensity is lovely.

An English fortress built in the 13th Century, with its square tower, a design typical of the era, became a wine producing estate in 1643. From organically grown grapes, an estate that has never seen pesticides or artificial fertilizers (the previous owner was 104 years old when she died and never used them). Aromas of sweet rich stone fruits with citrus scents. On the palate peach and apricot flavors with orange nutty notes. Medium finish ending with a honey citrus character. Nice now. Tasting Sample.

Not much of a sweet tooth, but with a Sauternes of this caliber you’ll see me giggling like a school girl on a sugar rush á la Oompa Loompa. Laughingly good, yet so broad and philosophical deep, a concentration that is far beyond and with a high and vibrant acidity that is keeping the lusciously sweet palate in check throughout the lengthy finish. Youthful, tight and needs time in the glass to show
Show its true complexity. A grand vin indeed. Judged on todays performance rather than future the potential.
