Plum, prunes, creme de cassis, truffles, forest bottom, cigar box. Redolent of vintage port. Still remarkably vibrant for its age. Ruby core, tawny rim. Ullage low shoulder. Cork intact but fully wine-soaked. A great wine that lives up to the hype. A real treat!

Tawny amber color. Translucent with a heavy weight in the glass. Has a hotness in the nose and almost seems a bit fortified in the mouth. Notes of brown sugar, mocha, some pepper and sherry. You can definitely feel the power and weight of this wine, but we suspect this has turned a bit to become a little bit madeirized. Still a memorable experience.

This has always been superior in magnum and this one only reinforced the impression. Still powerful, extracted and opulent. Intoxicating qualities aromatically; leafy forest floor, truffles, but also still, ripe black fruits and some gamey, smokehouse umami. A dreamy finish. I'll wait 10 more years before I open another...

1947. Can't actually believe I have rated this in my lifetime. Although it had a significant amount of leakage and oxidisation, it was still bright, still had bags of fruit, tannins, acidity. What am incredibly generous wine to open to celebrate our new little company. Thx guys xxx
