Feb 26th, 2024Vintage 2014 | this bottle gave everything I expected. And more. Cherries, leather, vanilla in smell. Round and supple taste, a Point, with food it became velvety. Paired with lamb and fresh capuchins. Combination made in heaven. Score for the wine, with food + 0,2. Happy!

Mar 16th, 2022Dark red purple. Inviting nose of black berry and black currant. Echoed on the medium full palate with hints of graphite and patent leather. Medium non-assertive tannins most present on the back palate leads to the medium long finish. Medium acidity and silky oak makes this second label a nice entry point into Bordeaux for the New World enthusiast. Fine cuts of beef with Bordelaise is a natural of course. Drink now through 2028 while waiting for Calon-Segur to ripen.

Mar 9th, 20222019 vintage. Previously known as Château Capbern Gasqueton, but after the death of the last Gasqueton, the estate was sold (together with Calon-Ségur) to the French insurance company Suravenir. This 2019 Saint-Estèphe features a dark red colour with a purplish rim and an attractive perfume of blackberry, cassis , slightly smoked cedar wood and a hint of pepper. Concentrated layered black fruit, with fresh acidity that perfectly balances the surprisingly high alcohol (15% abv.). Terrific value at around 20 euros.

Apr 23rd, 2021Drank 8/10/20. Excellent with a prime ribeye.
The second half of this bottle holding up nicely after the first was removed via Coravin 2 m ago. Very nice dark fruit profile, with ample, but well balanced tannins. See my previous review.

Vintage 2013 | half transparant, tuilé, complex smell, rich with dominant earthy impression - specific for Saint Estephe. Also pipe tobacco, chocolate, plums. The taste is à Point, very smooth. | paired with Gruyère cheese.

Aug 3rd, 2020Drank 6/15/20. Excellent with a porterhouse.
Nose of cassis, black currant, graphite, blackberry and plums. Flavors of blackberry, black licorice, plum, earth, and oak. Tannins are a bit firm, and may benefit from a few more years of age. Long, dry finish. This one should hold for another 10 years.
