Went from smelling like a gas station restroom to an old guy with forgotten colognes to a pleasant snake-cage before the wetlands mix of still vegetative waters interspersed with moving muddy freshwater came to the fore. The old guy floated away wrapped in river reeds and mosses, replaced by a springtime floral backdrop of mixed aquatic flowers. I felt like a guy who had finally and successfully disposed of the body that had been in my trunk too long, before biting into a sun-ripened plum, only to be surprised by its ripeness, and spicy, grainy aftertastes. A touch of anise, a hint of black currant, a layered warm and rocky terroir came to mind. Like driving away from the river on a slightly wet dirt road. Not saying it killed it, but it got the job done!

If Michel Rolland is your go-to guy you'll love it. If he's not you won't. Not for me to rate this wine so...8.0. New Worlders will give it high 8s...or even higher.

凝縮感のあるボルドーらしい香り。派手さは無いがバランスの取れた端正な味。俳優ならレイフ・ファインズかな。

2009 Vintage
Appearance: Clear, Medium+ Ruby. Nose: Clean, Blackberry, blueberry, plum. Developing. Palate: Dry, medium (acid, tannin, alc, body), medium intensity of black & blue fruits, and char. Finish: Medium. Quality: Very Good, drink now or hold. Conclusion: surprisingly well balanced and a bit fruit forward, very easy drinking, but a bit simple in its youth, would prefer a bit of complexity from aging. Does not take kindly to ogygen (2nd day), extremely harsh, bitter, and tannic.

Go-to Bordeaux gem from the lesser known Cotes de Bordeaux (Castillon) region. Unbeatable value-wise. Full bodied Merlot-based that can be enjoyed young but also has substantial aging capacity.

A lovely Cotes de Bordeaux with deep rich purple coloring, wonderful blackberry jam and a hint of cherry on the nose. Lovely smooth tannins and fruit blending into a great buy. 2009 was a great year everywhere in Bordeaux, letting lesser vineyards produce wonders, and this really shows it.
