rich old world Bordeaux. Purple centre/red rim with deep hue. intense aroma of crane de cassis, blueberry, blackberry, cedar, coffee, vanilla, touch of forest floor. Dry, mid acidity and mid ample/ripen tannin. Drinking window is already open, and still can evolve. Great Value.
Notes from the Winemaker:
Croix Canon is crafted with precision and care. In the cellar, the gravity-flow fermenting room allows for gentle yet thorough extraction. Made primarily from Merlot grapes with some Cabernet Franc, the wine is aged for 18 months in French oak barrels, 10% of which is new.
Tasting Notes:
The nose is fresh, delicate and fruity. The palate is silky with an intense aromatic expression and firm tannin structure. A long and graceful finish displays the balance and poise which define Croix Canon.
Food Pairing:
Match this wine at cellar temperature to a variety of dishes based on red meat or pair with ripe cheeses.
Varietal composition: 95% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc
ABV 14%

Textbook St Emilion, powerful and velvety dark red fruit. Graphite, oaky tannins and a bit of forest floor. Drinking perfectly now after 20 minute decant (was slightly awkward at 1st). Impressive QPR.

Lots of ripe and youthful fruit and tannin going on here, but starting to show some lift and finesse. Cassis, cherries, red apple skin, violets, leather, creme de menthe, young oak spice. Plenty of extraction and some excess weight on the palate. Great value for second wine that should go the distance.

Great effort in this not so great vintage.
Well-balanced, soft, supple, lovely fruit, some stemmy/green notes of course, some spices and minerals as well and sufficient stuffing and body to boot.
