Château Bellevue
Saint-Émilion Red Bordeaux Blend
Orange dark chocolate, violets, ripe red fruits and hints of leather. Will age for another decade but Amazing #rightbank #bordeaux now. #ageworthy

Nov 12th, 2018Powerful wine with loads of fruit and smoky minerals. Primary at this point. Unique for its almost 100% merlot content (a la Petrus 😊). From the producers of Chateau Angelus.

Mar 22nd, 2018Mark and I agreed to meet up at Classic this afternoon for some quick wine drinking, but it eventually turned in to a small wine gathering! Wine is great, but sharing it with others is so enjoyable.
The only unfortunate thing about this wine is the fact that it had to be tasted alongside the 2010 Le Dome. Drinking in a peak window right now, there is a plethora of cherries, strawberry, new oiled leather, and a chewy component that I always associate with cranberries.

Met a guy tonight at a party whose wine cellar is made up of 90% aged German Riesling. Shared some of this with him & made a new friend. The benefits of the question "do you like to drink wine?". This is in a great place BTW.

2 people found it helpfulMay 31st, 2015Deep Ruby with aromas of fruit, nutty spice and earthy notes of this 100% Merlot. On the palate flavors of blackberry, raspberry and ripe plum with notes of licorice, tar and herb spice. Fine tannins, long finish, well balanced, ending with mineral and earthy character. Just starting to drink well but a few more years this wine should “pop.”

Delineation and precision give the Bellevue much of its distinctive character. There is much to like in this nuanced, super-expressive Saint-Émilion from the de Boüard family. Dec 20th, 2015I was lucky to have had dinner with François Thienpont earlier this spring, and to taste several vintages of VCC. Bellevue is managed by his brother, Nicolas and Stephane Derenoncourt. Bellevue is a blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cab Franc. The 2000 offers up a bouquet of spring flowers, lavender, black currants, and minerals. Finely-hewn, with well-integrated tannins, and notes of leather, black fruit and graphite. It's just now entering its prime drinking window, with plenty of acidity to carry it forward.
