Château Beaumont
Cru Bourgeois Haut-Médoc Red Bordeaux Blend
The 2020 Beaumont is fabulous in the way it marries power and finesse. Crushed red berry fruit, charcoal, dried flowers, spice and tobacco lend notable complexity. The 2020 has lost some of its youthful fruitiness, but none of its charm or pedigree. This is beautifully done. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, February 2023)

Feb 23rd, 2023A good solid Haut-Médoc" is how I described the 2020 Beaumont when I tasted it from barrel. I've no need to alter that summation. A mixture of red and black fruit on the nose, this feels cohesive and detailed, not powerful yet it engages the senses. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy black fruit. There is just a slight bitterness that lends tension, quite sharp with black cherry, orange rind and cedar notes towards the finish. It's not going to win the wine of the vintage but it's a…well, I told you at the beginning. (Neal Martin, Vinous, February 2023)

Feb 9th, 20232015 vintage. This estate is owned these days by Grands Millésimes de France (also owner of Beychevelle), 50/50 owned by the big French Castel group and the Japanese Suntory. A blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 47% Merlot and 3% Petit Verdot. Flirting with overripeness, but still with just enough acidity to keep the balance, this is a seductive crowdpleaser that lacks a bit of complexity. Abv. 14%.

Mar 22nd, 2022Dense and compact, with an initial farmyard character that soon gave way to a fairly straightforward BDX profile. Somewhat lacking in either regional or viticultural typicity, with blackberry, dark chocolate, burned coffee and a hint of vanilla. The palate has good length with chewy tannins - it’s a fine wine for beef - and a pleasant finish. May improve in bottle yet. Very good value.

Sep 25th, 2017Great pick for its price. Blend of 53% Cab and 47% Merlot gives it a softer feel. Young on the palate with aromas of red cherries and riper plums. Recommended decanting for an hour

3 people found it helpfulDec 31st, 2014A nice brown hue from ten years of aging. Black currant and strawberries. The tannins are nonexistent and the mouthfeel is super soft. Perhaps a little too mature and not much punch left.

It’s very typical of the region so it’s song is complex and stately, with a quiet grace. Oaky tannins leap forth, very dusty and earthy. Some pipe tobacco notes. Generous blackberry flavors and a hint of mint on the backend. Good structure and in prime drinking state right now.
