This is powerful Syrah with a lot going on. More concentrated and tannic than many of the other Smith Syrah offerings I’ve encountered. Game, black pepper, violets, camphor, cocoa, coffee, and wild berries all leap from the glass. This wants lamb or a rib roast. Considering the price difference I think I prefer this to the Royal City. Well made wine.

Full bodied and dry with great tannins. Took a few minutes to open up but nice after that.

We now resume our regular programming. Maybe the 2016 needed a little more time but it just had too much pepper to it. 2017 is your classic Charles smith Rhone style. Bold fruit, long spicy finish. This is the only wine I buy by the case besides last year... time to place an order
