Charles Ellner
Brut 'Seduction' Millésimé Champagne
Nose has toasted brioche, grilled lemon, warm lemon creme, lemon zest, oxidized pear slice and fresh, rising bread dough.
Palate has lemon poundcake, cold toast, limestone chips, dried lemon slice and (light) candied orange.
Great mid-palate, a restrained richness is all elegance, acid balance is perfect and not pulling you one way or another. At 15 years past vintage, a great example of finesse in Champagne.
An aptly titled, solid bottle to begin our Valentine's Day 2020 afternoon.

Nice nose of minerals, lemon zest, very airy and clean. Elegant. Bright and high toned. Superb sense of place. Very earthy. Hint of mushroom. Very nice. Elegant, juicy, lemony and delicious. Lovely finesse and elegance. A compact wine but really had a terrific deliciousness factor. Long. Good concentration and depth. Some real power here. Terrific mid palate. Very good.

Dec 3rd, 2020Star bright gold in the glass. No mousse to speak of; bubbles are small and persistent. Yeasty, honeyed apple nose. Palate of dark honey, baked apple, and toast. Acidity is still quite firm and mouth-watering, despite its age. Finish is medium yielding a bit of floral honey on top of the rest. Wonderful example of a wonderful vintage that’s still showing well.

Nov 3rd, 2017Vivid yellow color with a fine bead. It shows complex and very appealing aromas that leads with a slightly oxidized top note that evolves into aromatic pastry dough, baked orchard fruit, pear, a bit of spice, citrus and a smoky mineral aromas. On the palate it's shows a delicate creamy mousse, and is very energetic and powerful with peach, pear, apple, citrus flavors a a chalky minerality. Long satisfying finish. Fantastic value in a a vintage Champagne from the terrific 2002 vintage at $50!

Jan 1st, 2017Christmas bottle at condo. Distinctive yellow color. A little thick on the tongue for my tastes. But I recognize the profile similar to other highly rated bottles. Reminded my of Egly Ouriet brut which I also didn't love.
