Checks the interesting box more than the delicious one. Not bad, just perplexing. Tastes like Uni and squash.

After 26 years -- Wine has developed a captivating bouquet & texture, but unfortunately at the expense of fruit & vigor.....#BirthYearBottle

Bright light gold, no brown. More like semillion than chardonnay, and nothing at all like Alsatian pinot blanc. Good texture, but not strong on flavor until the end when a pronounced and pleasing pear taste lingers. Good with squash and corn soup, but better with hummus on chips. It comes in both a regular and a reserve version, with the reserve usually somewhat richer. Chalone pinot blanc has to be one of California's longest-lived dry whites. In my experience, it's best at around 15 years, but capable of lasting 30 or more.
