Chalk Hill
Estate Vineyard Selection Botrytised Sémillon
Very sweet wine. Tastes much older than it is. Well made wine. A good, very sweet dessert wine.

Sep 20th, 2013Sticky capsule, must have leaked a bit. Breathed a sigh of relief upon opening, no harm. Wow. The nose is spot on - think of every type of overripe (molding) exotic tropical fruit imaginable, now with some dank, funky secondary aromas at this age. When I last tasted this vintage over a year ago, there was a significant oak influence on the palate, which seems to have faded to the background. Hugely viscous, and while the acidity doesn't quite match the sweetness, this is appropriately constructed and balanced. I have definitely had worse Sauternes.
