12’ Cayuse Vineyards The Lovers. 86% Cabernet Sauvignon &14% Syrah.
Pull the cork a few hours before throwing it into the decanter.
Big & seamless on the palate. Tons of blackberry, smoked meats, chocolate-spices. Very appealing. Drinking now.

Took on our wine date night to the Oakton Wine Shop and Bistro.

Deep garnet red with lighter edges. Lovely nose with layers of smoke, the 'rocks/Cayuse' funk, meaty, stinky, red cherries, tobacco, sweet spices and a little dark berries. Heavy tannins (7/10) and medium bodied. Great acidity, texture and structure. Layers of dust, a little blue fruits, black pepper, brambles, and great minerality. More layers and complexity with time in the glass, especially the blue and pepper notes. Perfect with the lamp chops. Drink till 2025.

Interesting. Cab is dominated by the 10% Syrah. Like drinking a bowl of black olive juice. No 11 WA cab green. Really geeky stuff.

For the money this is totally flat. The Syrah is overpowering with a dull finish. Over oaked.

45 min decant (some cloudy sediment). A irresistible dark ruby red color. On the nose: beautiful savory nose of smokey meat, slight Cayuse funk(luv it), wet stones, minerals, orange peel, dark cherries. Taste: a smooth, fresh, lite wine with little blackberry, pepper, earth, tobacco, and a espresso-herb-raspberry medium finish. No need to wait, drink em if you got em.....wish the taste matched that nose.

Youthful. Fantastic.
Started off with a fruity nose that developed a skunky or cat pee note that wasn’t negative.
The palate was dark fruits with a silky texture. After an hour, a spiciness emerged with some chalkiness and the wine became richer in profile. This wine is fruity but less so than some other Cayuse wines. Also features good minerality and smoked meat notes. Nice structure. This is very impressive. Probably just entering it’s drinking window. This was my only bottle but would love to have more of these to follow.
Perfect match with rack of lamb and made for a memorable meal

2011 vintage. Really opened up and softened after about 90 mins. Drank this next to a Napa cab and our guests just kept going back to this one. Super engaging and the Rocks fruit added depth and another dimension. Fun night.

First time with this one. Benefits from a long decant. Rock nose for sure. Nice fruit and integration after some air.
