Second time having this one in the last few weeks, this bottle didn’t show quite as fresh as the previous but still had layers of mature fruit to unwind over several hours.

17 years old and still so dense with fruit. Great smokey nose and then layers and layers of lush fruit, fresh as the day it was pressed.

Amazing how a little bottle age can really turn a "dumb" wine around. Great smoky meaty fruit aromas. Spicy black fruit, leather, but the acidity is still a little disjointed.

A bit past its prime, still fruity with good acid and still a little chewy. Will be good for some time.

Used to love Cayuse. Got this from their ex-cellar sale in Fall 18, so it should have been well-stored until then. No rocks funk, which was what made these wines so distinctive (arguably a flaw), but cigar ash and sweet tobacco, mixed with gamey red fruit. On the palate, acidity is low, and this shows flat, with attenuated tannin. Past prime, and give the price, extremely disappointing. Glad I made space on their list for someone still excited about their wines...

Unfortunately, this guy’s strength and structure withered to almost nothing. It was thin and flavorless. Bummer!

Ex-cellar wow wine...so fresh with vibrant but not over the top fruit and just a hint of Cayuse funk

Sour cherry, raspberry. Long, long finish.

Whoa! Mind blown. This wine is a blockbuster and goes on forever. Prune, leather, dark cherry, black pepper, warm and velvety.
