Caymus Vineyards
Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Another great Classic Wine Happy Hour in the books! Always a treat to have a designated day each month where guys can pull out some unique bottles!
Thanks @Will Adams for opening this! Gorgeous juice. A nod to how Caymus used to operate. Velvet like. Blue and blackberries, vanilla, cocoa, espresso.

Big structure, lots o life here. Almost stereotypically Napa Cab, Cassis, Velvety and punching you in the teeth. #cabernetday #adaylate #whoneedsthettb

Mar 18th, 2014Still super youthful at 12 years old, it deserved another 10+ years. Black fruit, lavender, vanilla, black pepper, road tar, touch of heat.

Feb 17th, 20132001 vintage (great Napa cab year). Good, upper-shoulder fill. Dryish cork. Decanted with plenty of sed. Lots of color. Tasted immediately. Smoky plummy nose. Still medium-heavy body. Showing well with plenty of front-palate richness evident in the gums. Overt "oakiness" gone with only complimentary, flattering oak framing the composition at this point. A hint of tannins on the finish but you've got to know where to look. Summer-school hedonism. Slightly better than expected. 11.30.23.
