This wine has dialed back it's modernist tendencies to showcase the quality of fruit they have. Tasty balanced Brunello.

Color is almost pinot, 100% Sangiovese, medium plus tannin, medium plus acidity, structure is complex, can be aged for longer, fruity, on the nose vanilla, spices, fruitiness is there.

2006, a bit too young. Fruit was still hiding. Nice structure wish I had another. Oh well cheers!

Please note: this is a review of the Costello, Romitorio Brunello di Montalcino *Reserva*, vintage 2015. I’m pretty sure this is a different wine than listed in the Delectable app.

2015 opened October 2023. Raw leather and raspberries on the nose. Pomegranate fruit on the front. Medium tannic structure that’s tightly closed with a lot of minerality. Long finish that’s tart but fades into a warm honey feeling on the back of the throat. This is a lovely wine that’s both challenging and satisfying.

This wasn’t bad, but slightly oaky. Otherwise mostly well balanced. No real signs of age yet.

Really enjoyed this wine. Must go to Italy again. The backbone and terroir are fantastic!
