Castello di Ama
Purple Rose
I suppose since this is Castello di Ama I shouldn’t be surprised it’s very good. Gobs of ripe fruit and freshness on the nose, with a nice crushed rock background. In the mouth, it’s dry, fresh as heck, and has good concentration and balance. Totally dry. Phenomenal with Chinese takeout on a warm evening.

Jun 3rd, 2023The 2021 Purple Rose is layered, bright and expressive, with soft contours wrapped around a core of brisk Sangiovese fruit. Pretty floral accents lift the finish. All the elements are so nicely balanced in this creamy, tasty Rosato from Castello di Ama. $25.00 (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, July 2022)

Jul 15th, 2022Ama’s 2018 Purple Rose is a saignée of Sangiovese fermented partly in a combination of steel and oak (30%). Rich and textured, with lovely depth, the 2018 is silky, perfumed and light on its feet. It has more than enough complexity and depth to drink well with a wide range of foods. $22.00 (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, July 2019)

2 people found it helpfulJul 15th, 2019Castello di Ama’s Purple Rose is gorgeous. Ample and radiant on the palate, with lovely silkiness, the 2017 Purple Rose is a serious wine endowed with tons of textural depth. Blood orange, star anise, crushed rose petals and mint add an attractive hint of exoticism. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, July 2018)
