Simple, yet decidedly Italian nose of earth and red cherry. Flavors of leather, soil, red and black fruit are backed by firm tannins. Fruit is a bit lacking, as tar, earth, and tannins dominate the finish. This improved significantly on day two, as it was paired with lamb chops, as opposed to the original pairing of Stromboli. Needs some meat and time to soften the tannic structure.
