Last bottle of this. Most recent prior note still applies. Great value and a great accompaniment to Tuscan beef stew (Peposo).

I got 4 of these for a song, and as time has passed, each bottle is better than the last. Obviously I suck at identifying when a young wine could actually improve. This is the last bottle and it’s just relaxed and delicious. Complex nose has humus, mocha, dark cherries macerated in chokecherry brandy, Christmas spice, and gravel. Soft, fluid, and flavorful, with nice acids, it’s got really nice graphite-inflected cherry fruit. Tannins barely present in the soft-textured finish.

I remember not being impressed with the first bottle I had of this, but this bottle is very nice. It’s a relatively easy-going rendition of a CCR, but with some complexity. Nose has sandalwood, ripe red berry fruit, some gravel and musky spice. In the mouth, there’s fairly concentrated ripe fruit in a very soft and flowing framework. Good length. Nice value for near-term drinking or cellaring a couple of years.

An easy-drinking, reasonably complex, inexpensive weeknight wine. Nose features lots of high-toned smoke, gravel, new leather, and walnuts. Soft and flowing in the mouth, with lots of mineral and iron notes, medium concentration, and nice balance. Fruit definitely is in the back seat on this one. Very good for its low price point.

This wine is a terroir bomb. Nose is intense with sweet & savory roasted herbs, warm gravel, iodine, and vanilla-tinged cherry. In the mouth it’s lean and intense and a little angular. Not a lot of fruit but it’s got fresh acids and tannin scaffolding surrounding linear and savory flavors. This will last and possibly improve over the next 5 years. Really distinctive.

This wine is intense, oaky, stronger at the back of your palette. It reminds me the characteristics of how a love should be and is. And will ever be.

Only produced in selected years. Garnet color due to extensive aging. (2 Years in Slovenian oak.). Cedar, blue flowers, and dusty earth on the nose. Flavors of cherry and toasty oak with hints of chocolate and balsamic vinegar. Medium bodied with nice fine grained tannins.

I find the 2012 is holding up well. Earthiness to the nose but the initial flavor burst is rich cherries. Stayed on the palate. Might deserve a higher rating but I rarely drink more expensive Chianti so lack a comparable. Lovely with an English cheddar on a rainy early Fall evening.

Delicious. Tannins soft but not flabby, beautiful nose of red berries. Just enough tartness to balance the fruit. Lovely with turkey meatballs and Norwegian cranberry sauce.

Rust colored purple. I get s little earthiness on the nose. The dominant flavors are cherry syrup and some iodine. Drinking nicely now but I’m not sure how much longer I’d hold this one.
