Casa Castillo (Julia Roche E Hijos)
Pie Franco Jumilla Monastrell
Super old, ungrafted Monastrell vines. Violets, white pepper, tobacco leaf, mulberry, plums, blueberry and chocolate. Chalky, present tannins that are so fine and plenty of supporting acid.

Jul 3rd, 2016From taste: rich brambly cherry liqueur, pine needles and peonies, fresh despite 15% alc, reminds me of barolo...great energy in mouth, quite layered and fragranced. Fine silky tannin, not a lot of acidity incidentally, though finishes quite long and fresh. Alcohol doesn't detract, another fine taste!

Burnt raspberries and currants blew up this Spanish gem. Coco and expresso rounded out this wonderful wine. Look forward to trying this again
